Consumer Confidence İndex Bounces İn October

Consumer confidence index rose by 7.3 percent to 62.78 against the previous month, in October, from the lowest level seen since Jan. 2009.

According to the consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the consumer confidence index increased by 7.3 percent in October compared to the previous month, while the index was 58.52 in September it increased to 62.78 in October.

The index has seen its lowest level in Sep., with a fall by 6.1 to 58.52, which was the lowest level since Jan. 2009, influenced by the global financial crisis.

Financial situation expectation rose by 5.5 pct.

The financial situation expectation of household index rose by 5.5 percent, against the previous month, while the index which was 82.08 in September, became 86.58 in October. This upsurge stemmed from the increase in the ratio of people expecting better financial situation of household, in the next 12 months period, according to the survey report.

General economic situation expectation rose by 12.3 pct.

Accordingly, the general economic situation expectation index increased by 12.3 percent from 72.04 to 80.87 in Oct., against Sept.. This increase showed that number of consumers expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months rose against the previous month.

Number of people unemployed expectation rose by 4.4 pct.

Meanwhile, The number of people unemployed expectation index increased by 4.4 percent to 64.61, compared to the previous month, in October. This upsurge resulted from the fall in the ratio of people expecting an increase in the number of unemployed persons, in the next 12 months.

Probability of saving rose by 5.3 pct.

The probability of saving index upsurged by 5.3 percent from 18.11 to 19.07 in October, against the previous month. This increase showed that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period rose, compared to Sept.
